Interventional Cardiology
About Department
Interventional Cardiology
Minimally invasive diagnosis and treatment of coronary artery diseases
The Interventional Cardiology Department provides diagnosis and treatment of heart vessel diseases using modern endovascular techniques.
Interventional cardiology makes it possible to assess the condition of the coronary arteries, detect narrowing or impaired blood supply to the heart, and, when indicated, restore blood flow without open surgery.
Key areas
• Diagnosis of coronary artery diseases
• Coronary angiography
• Assessment of the degree of coronary artery narrowing
• Balloon angioplasty
• Coronary artery stenting
• Treatment of acute coronary conditions
• Follow-up after stenting
• Monitoring of patients with ischemic heart disease
Conditions treated
• Ischemic heart disease
• Angina
• Coronary artery narrowing
• Acute coronary syndrome
• Myocardial infarction when indicated
• Chest pain or pressure related to impaired blood supply to the heart
• Shortness of breath during physical activity caused by cardiovascular factors
• Conditions after previous coronary stenting
• High risk of cardiovascular complications
Main diagnostic methods
• Consultation with a cardiologist
• Electrocardiography
• Echocardiography
• Holter ECG monitoring
• 24-hour blood pressure monitoring
• Laboratory tests
• CT coronary angiography when indicated
• Coronary angiography
• Consultations with related specialists when required
Available procedures
• Coronary angiography
• Balloon angioplasty of the coronary arteries
• Coronary artery stenting
• Assessment of results after endovascular intervention
• Selection of medication therapy after the procedure
• Ongoing follow-up after stenting
• Prevention of recurrent cardiovascular complications
Endovascular treatment
Endovascular procedures are performed through vascular access without large incisions. The doctor guides special instruments to the affected part of the vessel, assesses its condition, and, when necessary, restores blood flow using balloon angioplasty or stent placement.
This approach helps reduce procedural trauma, shorten the recovery period, and allow the patient to return to daily activities faster.
Comprehensive approach
The patient is examined with the involvement of a cardiologist, an interventional cardiologist, diagnostic imaging specialists, and laboratory services.
Based on the examination results, the treatment strategy is defined: medication therapy, endovascular intervention, or further ongoing follow-up.
